Daring to be Different

“Those Who Dare Win.” A sign with those words hangs above a couch shaped like the tail end of a ’57 Chevy in Joe Apkarian’s new craft beer and cocktail bar called The Eagle’s Dare. Named in part for the famous movie starring Richard Burton and Clint Eastwood, this place dares to win and exhorts you to do so too.

A New Way to Cruise the Cape Fear

Earlier this year, Cape Fear Riverboats welcomed its newest boat, Henrietta, to its fleet. Built in 1985, this two-deck boat joins Cape Fear Riverboats’ other two vessels, Captain J.N. Maffitt and Jacob’s Run, as part of downtown Wilmington’s longest continuously running boat tour.

Their names are Alan Nelson, Nicole Boudrieau and Tyler Powell. But eventually, they could collectively take on the name Hero, the Greek who actually invented the device in the first century.

Wilmington Symphony Orchestra Masterworks Series 2019
