Pip & Scout Make a Splash!

Two loggerhead sea turtle hatchlings named Pip and Scout are making a splash at North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher (NCAFF). Pip and Scout are survivors found in nest excavations at Carolina Beach and Fort Fisher. Their names began with ideas from staff, then votes from students throughout North Carolina.

A New Way to Cruise the Cape Fear

Earlier this year, Cape Fear Riverboats welcomed its newest boat, Henrietta, to its fleet. Built in 1985, this two-deck boat joins Cape Fear Riverboats’ other two vessels, Captain J.N. Maffitt and Jacob’s Run, as part of downtown Wilmington’s longest continuously running boat tour.

Wilmington Symphony Orchestra Musical Beginnings

When violinist Gaile Zack and her family moved to Wilmington in 1971, she couldn’t find a home for her music. Having played in community orchestras in Arkansas, Florida and Tennessee, Zack quickly realized that although Wilmington had many community offerings, live classical music wasn’t one of them.
