Who’s Who: Kyle Clossick, Seaview Crab Company
Who’s Who of Wilmington Today: Meet Kyle Clossick
Kyle Clossick started working for Seaview Crab Company when he was still in high school. He grew up with the company and now he’s their general manager and main talent recruiter. Though he was born in Long Island, New York, Clossick’s family moved to Wilmington after his grandparents decided to retire here, and this is the place Clossick has always called home. He loves the Cape Fear area for its food, people and overall dynamic. “There is always something to do, whether it’s at the beach or with sports,” he says.
What are three words that describe you?
Loyal (above all else), unafraid (to do any sort of work), driven.
What is your average workday like?
One week is never really the same as the next as I’ve had many different roles in eight years I’ve been with the company (from digging holes to fish cutting to team member recruitment and scheduling).
What do you enjoy most about your job?
Working with a great team of people. Being a part of other team members’ success as they mature and grow through the business is very rewarding as well.
What is the most difficult part of your job?
Scheduling complexities in the ever-changing nature of the seafood business.
What has working at Seaview Crab Co. done for you?
I have taken many strides forward personally and professionally and I have made lifelong personal relationships. The company has allowed me to grow my own family at a young age (I now have two daughters).
Do you have any goals for the company and what will you do to achieve them?
My goal is to continue to create new jobs and roles for team members in the company. We will do so by training and applying growth pressures until we have no choice but to expand and raise the bar.
What is your favorite movie? The Longest Yard (Adam Sandler version)
What is your most embarrassing moment? Tough question!
If you could have a superpower what would it be and why? I would be able to read minds; I’m interested to see what people are really thinking.
What’s your favorite song right now? “Hot Smoke and Heavy Blues” by Mothership (a metal band)
Do you have any pet peeves? I really dislike waste, whether its from a fish or food or trash, for example.
What’s your favorite quote or mantra? Just grind it out.
