NHRMC also provides Emergency Medical Services (EMS), critical care ground and air transport through VitaLink and AirLink, outpatient diagnostic services at multiple Health & Diagnostic locations and outpatient rehabilitation. The NHRMC Physician Group provides primary care, specialty services and urgent care throughout the region.

New Hanover Regional Medical Center is the largest employer in the region, with a dedicated team of about 6,500 employees, more than 1,000 physicians on staff and more than 800 volunteers. NHRMC is licensed for 769 beds.
As a public, not-for-profit hospital, NHRMC offers care to everyone who needs it, regardless of ability to pay. On an annual basis, NHRMC provides more than $145 million in charitable and uncompensated care to the community. Its volunteer board of trustees plays an active role in shaping the future of healthcare in southeastern North Carolina. NHRMC receives no local tax support for its day-to-day operations.
