WWAY Local News – Cape Fear & Beyond

by Dec 15, 2018Communities, Greater Cape Fear

WWAY is southeastern North Carolina’s home for ABC, CBS and the CW, along with local news, weather and sports you can count on. But WWAY is more than just a TV station. WWAY serves nearly 200,000 households in Bladen, Brunswick, Columbus, New Hanover and Pender counties.

Our award-winning news team works hard every day to bring the most important local stories and issues to the attention of our community. Our station as a whole is constantly at work in our area helping those in need through community outreach programs. It is an integral part of our services to make sure those in need get the assistance they require. We meet these needs with various events, promotions and efforts throughout southeastern North Carolina. From helping raise funds for local cancer treatment organizations to feeding the less fortunate through food drives, it is our responsibility to help the Cape Fear region.

WWAY signed hit the air on October 30, 1964, as Wilmington’s ABC affiliate. It added a CW affiliation in 2013 and CBS in 2017. After spending its first 54 years in downtown Wilmington, the station moved into a state-of-the-art facility in Leland in 2018.

In addition to the television side of the business, WWAY also features one of the region’s most popular websites (WWAYTV3.com), as well as the WWAY NEWS and StormTrack 3 Weather apps to make sure we can serve our viewers wherever they are.

WWAY also includes a sales and production team able to bring your marketing needs to life across all platforms.

At WWAY, we believe in not just serving the community, but being part of it. So whether you call the region home or a place you love to visit, tune in and join us!

We are proud and grateful to live in such an amazing place. That’s why we work hard every day to prove our slogan “This is the Place!”
