Wilmington-based Got Shade? Beach Rentals has been renting shade solutions and beach necessities in Carolina, Kure and Wrightsville beaches since 2010.
“Throwin’ shade since 2010,” find husband and wife duo Frank and Nicole Perry offering an array of beach gear with a high quality of customer service that keeps their clientele coming back again and again.
The idea for renting shade-related beach products came about during surf lessons Frank was teaching. Parents began asking how they could rent the canopy he used to keep the kids out of the sun, and Got Shade Beach Rentals was born.
Frank initially began the business out of his garage to fund his surfing excursions to Costa Rica.
Now the lowkey business has blossomed into a full-blown enterprise spanning across Wilmington, Carolina and Kure beaches, renting not only shade products but other items as well.
“If somebody asks for something, we look into renting it,” says Nicole, who joined Frank in the business about a decade ago.
“We are a family-owned business,” Nicole says. “It’s just Frank and I — plus our two poodles Gidget and Moondoggie. You don’t see businesses like us anymore … and I think a lot of people rent from us simply because they like us.”
From your classic shady selects (umbrellas, Shibumi Shades and canopies) to metal detectors, beach carts, large and small coolers, folding tables, grills, golf carts, e-bikes and more — Got Shade has your beach needs covered.
They also offer beach game selections from Spikeball and cornhole to Kan Jam, Bottle Bash, bocce ball and more.
“We consider it a privilege to be a part of families’ vacations,” Nicole says. “We watch our patrons’ children grow up year after year, celebrate the births of grandchildren and oftentimes assist in helping our people relocate to our fabulous beaches.”
Got Shade offers delivery and pickup service as well.
“Our delivery service and top-notch rentals take the work out of vacation so our guests can focus on relaxing and having fun!” Nicole says.
