Spooky Halloween Events in Wilmington NC for 2017

This Halloween, between the costume parties, take in some of the area’s best spook’s and scares. Here are six of the area’s best Halloween events for 2017 in the Wilmington, NC area.

The Battleship North Carolina – Batty Battleship

Trick or Treat aboard the Battleship NORTH CAROLINA on Tuesday, October 24, 2017, 5:30 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.

Batty Battleship, brother Buggy and their friends return to the Battleship for a spooktacular trick or treating time. A lot of fun and no scares it is the best location for the family to share.

There will be a petting zoo and plenty of candy and sweets.

Children are encouraged to wear their Halloween costumes. Be sure to bring your camera and capture all the fun games, activities, henna tattoos, and storytelling that’s all part of the Halloween fun.

Admission is $5 per person. Kids 2 and under free. Some activities are weather dependent. Last ticket sold at 7:30 p.m.

Jungle Rapids – TORMENT Haunted Laser Tag!

Do you dare??? Jungle Rapids presents “TORMENT” haunted laser tag from October 23-27, 2017. Join Jungle Rapids for 5 nights of zombies, nightmares, and terror, all while trying to beat your friends in a game of Laser Tag.

Event details:

  • $15 admission per guest
  • Includes: one game of laser tag (extended game play)
  • Recommended for ages 10 and up.
  • Parental discretion advised.
  • Groups of 12 or more guests are eligible to receive a discounted rate of $10 per person. Groups must call ahead to receive this discount.

Poplar Grove Plantation – Paranormal Ghost Tours

The grounds of Poplar Grove Plantation are rife with true old tales of terror, including a murderous crime of passion. Various spirits and ghosts are said to haunt the Manor House, Tenant House, graveyard, and grounds.

Come, learn about these interesting characters, discover more about the phantoms, and learn why they still stalk the Poplar Grove Plantation grounds.

All tickets are $15 each (plus taxes and fees). Groups are limited to 15. Cameras and other paranormal equipment are permitted. No guarantee of ghost activity. They stir at their own leisure.

At the time of this writing, four of the six Paranormal Ghost Tours offered this month are sold out. There are still tickets available for:

  • Thursday, October 26, 2017 from 6pm – 9pm – Tours on the hour at 7pm, 8pm, and 9pm.
  • Sunday, October 29, 2017 from 6pm – 9pm – Tours on the hour at 7pm, and 8pm.

Wilmington Horror Story: Mansion of Madness

Experience the area’s finest immersive haunted house experience! For four nights only the Burgwin-Wright House and the Bellamy Mansion, in collaboration with Pineapple-Shaped Lamps, a theater production company will transform the grounds into a mansion of madness.

Tickets are $35 and include admission to both houses. Tours begin at 7 p.m. at both locations and groups will continue to be admitted until midnight.

Refreshments will be sold. Please be advised that both houses may contain content not suitable for small children.

The Cotton Exchange – Haunted Tours

Visit The Cotton Exchange in downtown Wilmington and experience one of the Cape Fear’s most haunted locations! Our masterful storyteller will tell you the real terrible history that causes ghosts to haunt the Cotton Exchange corridors.

North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher – Trick or Treat Under the Sea

Grab your costume and join the North Carolina Aquarium on Thursday, October 26th, Friday, October 27th, or Saturday, October 28, 2017 from 4:30 p.m.-8:00 p.m. for Trick or Treat Under the Sea. Behind every corner you’ll find a live animal encounter, Halloween games, face painting, and magic shows. Watch superheroes and scary monsters swim with the sharks!

Local merchants, also in costume for the event, will also be on hand to give away treats to trick-or-treaters.
