Don’t Miss These Fun Events in Wilmington NC Sept. 17-18
There is something for everyone to do since lots of fun events in Wilmington NC are scheduled for the weekend of Sept. 17 and 18. Kids and adults have the opportunity to enjoy being outside this weekend to enjoy the cooler weather.
The North Carolina Rice Festival will be held on Sept. 17 and 18 at the Brunswick Riverwalk and park at Belville, which borders the Brunswick River in Brunswick County. The Festival celebrates the history of rice growing in North Carolina and its continued production today. There will be a host of rice recipes presented in the cooking contest and a youth art contest as well.
Bring your shaggin’ shoes too since there will be music both days. The Big Kahuna Beach Party performs both days from 9-12. The Coco Loco Party Band entertains on Saturday and The Imitations on Sunday from 1-5. Of course, there will lots of arts and craft vendors, several food vendors, a beer garden and a large play area for kids. Royalty will be on hand as well with the princesses and queens from numerous festivals attending the Rice Festival.
Jungle Rapids is teaming with Thalian Association Community Theatre (TACT) in a fund-raising event that is sure to please. On Sunday, Sept. 18 from 1-4 p.m., Jungle Rapids will host the first annual Family Fun Day. Tickets are just $12 (a $20 value) and Jungle Rapids will donate $5 from each ticket to TACT to support its Youth Theatre. Each ticket includes a $4.00 arcade card and the choice of two activities: Go-Karts, miniature Jungle Golf, Sky Tower, laser tag, climbing wall or Kids Jungle.
Thalian Association Youth Theatre offers theatrical training and performance opportunities for children ages seven through high school seniors. Students are involved both on stage as actors or back stage as part of the theatrical production team, with five productions staged each year.
