Dance the Night Away
Going Beyond the Pink’s Third Annual Bust-a-Move for Breast Cancer Dance Party Fundraiser is coming up on February 10.
Going Beyond the Pink, a local breast cancer support organization, is excited to announce its Third Annual Bust-a-Move for Breast Cancer Dance Party fundraiser on February 10.
The event will include music by DJ Miss Story and a belly dancing exhibition by Ameribic Fusion Belly Dancing. Survivor Spotlights, dinner, a dessert bar, a cash bar with 10 pink specialty drinks, dancing and 50/50 raffle will contribute to the evening’s fun.
Founded in 2017 in Wilmington by local breast cancer survivor Kara Kenan, the nonprofit Going Beyond the Pink’s mission is to empower breast cancer patients and survivors with knowledge and support so they can thrive through treatment into survivorship.
Going Beyond the Pink’s primary support comes from businesses and individuals wanting to make a difference in their local community.
Going Beyond the Pink currently serves Brunswick, New Hanover and Pender counties with care bags and financial assistance for out-of-pocket medical expenses and has a national reach with robust online resources and patient navigation.
“In Going Beyond the Pink’s first six-plus years, we’ve seen and met a huge need for support resources, health and wellness education, individual and family support, and financial assistance right here in our local breast cancer community,” Kenan says. “Everyone knows someone impacted by breast cancer. The local need is staggering. It is time to move beyond breast cancer awareness and start making a tangible impact in the lives of those affected by this devastating, life-altering disease.”
