The Crab Shack

Located between Wilmington and Topsail Beach, The Crab Shack opened in 2012. Next door to Poplar Grove Plantation on US Highway 17 North, the restaurant features whole, steamed blue crabs, messy to eat but a delicacy well worth the effort.

The Crab Shack also has a large selection of other seafood including steamed local oysters, assorted steamer pots, seafood platters, crab cakes, grilled scallops and bacon-wrapped shrimp. A terrific list of sides offers crisp onion rings, french fries and fried okra in addition to other items.

Not in the mood for seafood? If you love spicy chili, this is the place for a tasty, flavorful and filling bowl. The Crab Shack has huge hamburgers, club sandwiches, fish sandwiches, nachos, chicken salad, baby-back ribs and barbecued chicken, among many other choices.

The restaurant is super casual with a full bar, several draft beers, numerous televisions featuring sports and news channels and a patio open when the weather is warm. The Crab Shack is open for lunch and dinner seven days a week.

Prices are modest, especially for the large portions served. The Crab Shack is open 11:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday-Thursday and 11:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. Sunday.
