Is the Nation’s Best B&B in Wilmington?
Wilmington’s C.W. Worth House Bed & Breakfast is in the running for USA Today’s Best Bed and Breakfast, and voting is still open.
Wilmington, cast your ballots! The historic district’s beloved C.W. Worth House Bed & Breakfast is up for USA Today’s Best Bed and Breakfast list! The B&B already showcases myriad awards such as TripAdvisor’s 2022 and 2023 Traveler’s Choice Award and WWAY’s Best Hotel/Bed & Breakfast in the Cape Fear Region. Translation: This potential recognition will only add to the well-deserved stacked lineup of awards that the intimate inn has earned.
The seven-bedroom, circa-1893 Queen Anne-style building has hosted guests since 1985 and changed hands in early 2022. Now at the helm are husband-and-wife duo/hospitality aficionados Jennifer Blomberg and Jeff Mason, who have reimagined the B&B into a more curated and relaxing respite.
“We love creating spaces and environments for people and hosting,” Mason says. “My wife has a background in historic preservation, so we wanted to have an older home and create a good environment and romantic getaway for our customers.”
And that they have. The Downtown Wilmington getaway entices visitors from all around North Carolina and Europe. Blomberg and Mason have even drawn several repeat visitors during their brief stint as owners.
Adding to the allure, they tout a morning meal with rave reviews (homemade bread, yogurt, fresh fruit and a rotating central entree). They also have a complimentary wine hour and specialty romance and birthday packages (Champagne and chocolate-covered strawberries, anyone?).
C.W. Worth House is situated in a prime location within walking distance to Downtown Wilmington and the Wilmington Riverwalk, giving guests the option to relax on the porch or venture into the hustle and bustle of the city.
“I think it’s a certain type of accommodation and hospitality you get from an owner-run bed and breakfast,” Mason says. “It is a more personalized and one-on-one customer service. We want people to feel at home and relaxed while they are here.”
He adds, “This isn’t somewhere you come and crash for the night. It’s an experience!”
