The modernly decorated lounge offers large leather couches and exquisite sycamore wooden tables amongst vibrantly patterned oriental rugs and aesthetically pleasing chandeliers made from massive warehouse vents.
D+M, as it’s nicknamed, oozes elegance while at the same time providing a comfortable space that you’ll want to unwind in all evening, with good food, one of a kind drinks and the right company.
Dram + Morsel is the hidden gem of Wilmington, perfect for small plate sharing and specialty cocktails.
Dram + Morsel specializes in snacks and small plates, meaning you’ll want to come with a large group so you can try a little bit of everything. The eclectic menu includes appetizers like chicken nachos, pretzel bites dipped in a smoked gouda cheese sauce, house cut fries with bacon, parmesan fried cauliflower and pupusas made from masa dough filled with spicy black beans, cheddar cheese and cilantro.
Larger dishes like dry-spice rubbed pork ribs, pumpkin pozole with hominy, tomatillo and roasted butternut squash in a spicy pumpkin broth, and lump crab cakes are essential for sharing, along with hamburgers, chicken and/or veggie sliders.
Lighter options include a spinach salad with strawberries, goat cheese and balsamic vinaigrette; panzanella loaded with arugula, carrot, onion, cherry tomato, goat cheese, smoked tomato vinaigrette and grilled bread; and a hot take on a caesar salad, made with grilled romaine wedges, shaved manchego, crispy fried onions and a spicy caesar dressing. A special brunch menu is served on Sunday’s, accompanied with tarot card readings from local psychic Lorri Gifford.
No night out is complete without some drinks, and D+M’s cocktail menu boasts a stellar line-up that delivers a tasty bang for your buck. Elicit tropical vibes with the La Piña Ahumada, made with Sombra Mezcal, mint, fresh pineapple and simple syrup, or the Downtown Daiquiri, a mix of Cruzan banana rum, lime juice, Coco Lopez and cinnamon. The Wildflower Lemonade with Cathead honeysuckle vodka and rose water and Rosé Spritz are refreshing options for a warm evening, while the Chocolate Old Fashioned puts a sweet twist on a classic.
Finish up the evening with one of Dram + Morsel’s delicious desserts, ranging from the uber divine peanut butter icebox pie to the light and fresh blueberry yuzu tart with blueberry coulis.
If the food and drink aren’t enough to make you stay a whole evening, the view certainly will. With a prime location on the third floor of the historic Roudabush building on South Front Street, D+M’s balcony and multiple windows provide excellent views of the Cape Fear River and the surrounding downtown scenery.
